Fight Director and Certified Teacher

Adam is an SAFD Fight Director and Certified Teacher, actor, theatre educator and musician (adammclean.bandcamp.com).  Adam completed his 200 Yoga Teacher Training with Vibe Yoga Studios in Bloomington, IN and a Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance as a 200 E-RYT.  He has taught for three years in Boston at Yogaworks, Corepower Yoga, JP Centre Yoga, and Wonder Yoga.

Adam was most recently a sabbatical replacement at the University of San Diego for the MFA Shiley Theatre/Old Globe Graduate Theatre Acting Program teaching Stage Combat to first and second year graduate actors and doing movement and violence for graduate productions.

He was an Assistant Professor of Movement and Stage Combat at Indiana University where he taught Movement and Stage Combat to MFA Actors and Directors, students of the BA Theatre, BFA Musical Theatre and BFA Contemporary Dance.  

 As a director, Adam had the pleasure of directing Jose Rivera's MARISOL while teaching full time at Boston Arts Academy. He also directed David Lindsay-Abaire's RABBIT HOLE for Newton South Summer Stage and Jose Rivera's GIANTS HAVE US IN THEIR BOOKS. In addition, Adam directed Henry Purcell's DIDO AND AENEAS and Mozart's THE MAGIC FLUTE for Metro West Opera.

Adam's fight direction has been seen at A.R.T.(Donnie Darko), Company One (Mr. Marmalade), the Actor's Shakespeare Project (Titus Andronicus), Shakespeare Now! (Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night's Dream), Boston Playwrights Theatre (Little Black Dress, The Company We Keep) and the Nora Theatre (the Caretaker), Opera Boston (Cardillac), Capital Repertory Theatre (Superior Donuts), Indiana Repertory Theatre (The Hound of the Baskervilles and To Kill a Mockingbird) and Cardinal Stage (The Lord of the Flies and Les Miserables), UCSD/Lajolla Playhouse (Wagner New Play Festival) and USD/Old Globe (Our Town, Stupid Fucking Bird).

Adam has taught movement, acting and/or stage combat at Emerson College, Boston University, the Opera Institute, the New England Conservatory and was a Visiting Assistant Professor at Florida State University. In addition, he has taught at the National Stage Combat Workshops in Las Vegas and the North Carolina School of the Arts. He has performed and taught at the Sibiu International Theatre Festival in Sibiu, Romania.

Adam continues to study the Michael Chekhov Acting Technique with the Michael Chekhov Association (MICHA).  Adam holds a BA Drama from Thomas More College. He also earned an MFA in Theatre Pedagogy from Virginia Commonwealth University. Adam held a Black Sash/Teaching Certification in Wing Chun from Sifu Scott Elliott at the AFS Academy.
