JO DiNOZZI (Director/Fight Director). Jo is a Director, Producer, Actress, Voice Actress, Audiobook Narrator, Fight Director and Stage Combat Choreographer. She is also a transgender advocate and activist as well as the head Artistic Director, President, and CEO of A Sketch of New York Productions Inc.
Directorial work includes A Sketch of New York, More New York Stories, Scary Sketches to Perform in New York, A Sketch of Pride, A Play of Sorts, Behind Glass Walls: The Anxiety Plays, Director of the Pirate Scenario at The New York Renaissance Faire, Star Wars: Eclipse of the Force, Christmastime in the City, Our New York, and Breakdown.
As a Fight Director she has choreographed many shows in New York City, including A Sketch of New York, Our New York, Christmastime in the City, More New York Stories, Marisol, Chicago, A Play of Sorts, Oldtimer's Game, Doubt that the Stars Are Fire, Running Out of Time, Lady Macbeth, Lenin's Embalmers, Star Wars: The Trade Federation, Duck Hunter Shoots Angel, Star Wars: Eclipse of the Force, Mary V, Homage, Dark Play or: Stories for Boys, Lilly Riggs, Satire Off-Broadway, Breakdown, Fool's Gold, Theophany, and, for many years, the New York Renaissance Faire. Jo has also assisted Fight Master J. David Brimmer at their classes at NYU as well as on shows including Guide for the Homesick, Twelfth Night, The Bacchae, Waiting for Lefty, Wet Brain, The Three Musketeers, American (Tele)Visions, Gnit, Target, Wolf Play, Drift, Hamlet, Fairview, Is God Is, Hangmen, Yen, Animal, Artificial Jungle, Samara, ’Tis Pity She's A Whore, and Futurity. Jo is also the world's first openly transgender Fight Director with Broadway show credits, having worked on the Broadway productions of American Buffalo, Pass Over, Hangmen (in both 2020 and 2022), and Be More Chill.
As an actress she has appeared in such New York City stage shows as Lady Macbeth, Behind Glass Walls: The Anxiety Plays, Satire Off Broadway, Breakdown, Theophany, Balm In Gilead, The First Disgrace, Something Outrageous, and Much Ado About Nothing. She may be found on the Renaissance Faire circuit performing her independent musical/stage combat act: Captain Frances Drake: Flying All Flags. She is also the founder of nonprofit theater company A Sketch of New York Productions, Inc. and has served as their CEO, President, Artistic Director, and in-house Fight Director since their inception in 2016, directing and producing shows at least monthly since then, interrupted only by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Outside of theater, she is the co-leader of the transgender advocacy and education activism group, TQVoices.
