Trained as an actor at the University of Arkansas and the Guildford School of Acting, Bret has worked professionally both as an actor and a Fight Director. Bret is currently a member of Equity’s Fight Directors Register, a CT with the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD) and a Master Teacher with the British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat (BASSC). Bret’s fight direction work has been seen in such places as the Royal National Theatre, Royal Shakespeare Company, Barbican Theatre, Comedy Theatre, Playhouse Theatre, Royal Court Theatre, , Hampstead Theatre, Liverpool Playhouse and Everyman, Haymarket Theatre-Basingstoke, Theatre-by-the-Lake, Keswick, Theatre Royal - York, Mercury Theatre- Colchester, Hull Truck Theatre, Theatre Royal - Plymouth , UCC - Singapore and the Palais des Festival, Cannes. Recent fight screen credits include DEATHLESS (Little Dude Films), Blue Peter (BBC), Against All Odds (BBC Scotland) and TROY (Warner Bros).Bret has also worked extensively as a teacher of stage combat and has taught workshops in the UK, US, Canada, Israel, Singapore and Germany.

Bret is currently the Master of Combat at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) and The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. Bret also teaches at Ithaca College, London Centre.
