Amie Root is a stage combat, movement and pedagogy teacher, fight director, actor and playwright. She travels across the country teaching and working in theatre. Amie is a Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors. She has been a lead instructor for California State University - Summer Arts and a lead instructor for the Central Illinois Stage Combat Workshop multiple years. She is an official mentor with the SAFD and has taught all eight weapon styles and more than 300 Skills Proficiency Tests. Amie is the resident Fight Director for Unto These Hills, NC. Additionally, she is the chair of the SAFD Pedagogy Committee, as well as coordinates the pedagogy training at the Texas Intensive hosted by the University of Houston and the two-week Central Illinois Stage Combat Teacher Trainer. Amie was also a teaching artist of movement and stage combat for the Shakespeare Theatre Company in Washington DC for three years.
