John McFarland is a Fight Director and Certified Teacher with the Society of American Fight Directors. John also holds the rank of Master teacher with The British Academy of Stage and Screen Combat. He has choreographed Violence for: Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Notre Dame Shakespeare, The Joffrey Ballet Co., Peninsula Players Theatre, New American Theatre, North Shore Music Theatre, Light Opera Works. As an Actor, some of the theatres where John has worked: Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Lyric Opera, Marriott Lincolnshire Theatre, The North Shore Music Theatre, Drury Lane Theatre, New American Theatre. As a teacher he has taught around the USA, in the UK, Spain, Gremany, Ireland and at the 1st World Stage Combat Conference at York University in Toronto Ontario. John is an adjunct instructor at Columbia College Chicago, where he teaches Voice and Stage Combat.
